Community Placement Program (CPP) Manager

DESCRIPTION: The Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Community Placement (CPP) Program Manager performs work related to providing services to committed residents from the DJJ. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of Programs and includes:


•     The CPP Program Manager is responsible for management, services and activities of residents In the SVJC’s CPP, Re-Entry and Central Admission and Placement (CAP).
•     Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of Programs.
•     Responsible for ensuring the provision of mental health services to assigned residents placed in the care of the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center.
•     Schedules, supervises and reviews work of CPP, Re-entry and CAP staff, interns and volunteers.
•     Adheres to confidentiality guidelines, protects the rights of residents, and adheres to all DJJ and facilities policies and procedures.
•     Works closely with SVJC staff and other community agencies to coordinate treatment services.
•     Ensuring the provision of the following services: diagnostic assessment, individual, group and family counseling, crisis intervention and stabilization, case management, and community support;
•     Facilitates positive adult and peer relationships based on courtesy, compassion, and respect.
•     Provides crisis stabilization and emergency services as needed.
•     Provide Supervision of CPP Clinician.
•     Conducts intake interviews, evaluates treatment needs and assists in the development of Treatment plans.
•     Ensures that all assigned residents are administered the MAYSI-2, either through direct administration or by the CPP Clinician.
•     Attends clinical staff meetings and functions as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
•     Works collaboratively with SVJC staff and other professional staff to coordinate services.
•     Meets documentation requirements and maintains records in accordance with facility and DJJ standards.
•     Complies with resident rights and confidentiality policies, human rights, and licensure regulations, as applicable.
•     Maintains effective working relationships with coworkers and staff of outside agencies based on courtesy, compassion, and respect.
•     Performs other duties as assigned by SVJC Administrators.
•     Advises and makes recommendations to SVJC direct care staff on residents’ needs, issues/concerns and appointments.
•     Works with the resident and the family or any placing agency that may be involved in planning for the resident's future and in preparing the resident for the return home or to another family, for independent living, or for other residential care.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the principles, juvenile delinquency, and the juvenile justice system.  Requires skills in oral and written communication, community education/public speaking, supervisory skills, and computer skills. Requires knowledge in ethical standards that govern helping relationships; demonstrated good judgment, and Conflict resolution skills.  Ability to form working alliances with clients, family members, and staff of outside agencies.  Ability to work with children and adolescents from many socioeconomic and educational backgrounds who are experiencing a wide variety of mental health problems.  Sound practical knowledge of case management principles, service plan development, reporting and evaluation  techniques and anti-social behavior.  Good decision-making and coordination and management skills; Understand policies, procedures and service of the center.  Current driver's license and driving record acceptable to the juvenile center insurance carrier is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in social work, psychology or counseling; or a baccalaureate degree in social work or psychology or related degree with documented field work experience; or extensive experience working with youth in a residential setting or experience in the field of mental health/social work.

Full Time Cook

SVJC is accepting applications for a full-time Cook. SVJC is a 24-hour secure detention center serving court detained youth through the age of 17. 
 
Position is responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and cleaning.  Position will provide assistance in ordering, receiving, and stocking.  Prefer experience with institutional food service operation.  Prefer applicants with knowledge of USDA School Nutrition Program menu format and record keeping. Applicants will be required to pass a criminal background check, central registry check, pre-employment physical including the ability to regularly lift and carry forty (40) pounds, driving record check, and a drug screening.  SVJC is a tobacco and drug free facility/grounds.  This position is for 4 ten (10) hour days and rotating weekends.   Position offers a starting salary of $34,000.00 with full-time benefits.  Must be 21 or older to apply.

Resident Supervisor

SVJC is accepting applications for a full time Resident Supervisor to ensure adequate staffing ratios for supervision of residents, which will also include the supervision of male residents throughout the intake process (includes pat downs and supervision of showers).  SVJC is a 24 hour secure detention center serving court detained youth through the age of 17. A high school diploma and relevant experience working with children or adolescents is required.  Applicants must be willing to work shifts (days, nights, or swing) and meet physical requirements related to this position.  Applicants will be required to pass a criminal background check, central registry check, pre-employment physical, driving record check, and a drug screening.  SVJC is a tobacco and drug free facility/grounds.  Position offers a starting salary of $47,921 with full-time benefits.  Must be 21 or older to apply.
